US President Barack Obama's offer to talk to Iran shows that America's policy of "domination" has failed, the government spokesman said on Saturday.

"This request means Western ideology has become passive, that capitalist thought and the system of domination have failed," Gholam Hossein Elham was quoted as saying by the Mehr news agency.

"Negotiation is secondary, the main issue is that there is no way but for (the United States) to change," he added.

After nearly three decades of severed ties, Obama said shortly after taking office this month that he is willing to extend a diplomatic hand to Tehran if the Islamic republic is ready to "unclench its fist".

In response, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad launched a fresh tirade against the United States, demanding an apology for its "crimes" against Iran and saying he expected "deep and fundamental" change from Obama.

Iranian politicians frequently refer to the US administration as the "global arrogance", "domineering power" and "Great Satan".

Tensions with the United States have soared over Iran's nuclear drive and Ahmadinejad's vitriolic verbal attacks against Washington's close regional ally Israel.

Former US president George W. Bush refused to hold talks with the Islamic republic -- which he dubbed part of an "axis of evil" -- unless it suspended uranium enrichment, and never took a military option to thwart Tehran's atomic drive off the table.

The new administration of Obama has also refused to rule out any options -- including military strikes -- to stop Tehran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.

Iran denies any plans to build the bomb and insists its nuclear programme is solely aimed at peaceful ends.

Judge defies Obama on Guantanamo

“On its face, the request to delay the arraignment is not reasonable,” the judge, Army Col. James Pohl, wrote in his three-page ruling denying a prosecution request to delay Nashiri’s first court appearance.

Pentagon prosecutors filed identical delay requests soon after Obama took office, arguing that the commander-in-chief needed a 120-day suspension in war court hearings to give the new administration time to study the process.

Other war court judges, including the Army colonel presiding at the trial of the accused plotters of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, agreed to the delay.

But Pohl said he would not accede to the request. “The public interest in a speedy trial will be harmed by the delay in the arraignment,” he wrote.

He also noted that nothing would take place at the arraignment that would prevent Obama from taking other steps to stop the trial and that under the 2006 Military Commissions Act, it was up to a judge to grant any delay. “The commission is bound by the law as it currently exists not as it may change in the future.”

The Case for Doing Nothing

Most of Washington has reached quick consensus: Government must do something big to shock the economy, and it should cost between $800 billion and $900 billion.

But dissident economists and investment professionals offer a much different take: Most of Washington is dead wrong.

Instead of fighting over what should go in the economic stimulus bill, pitting infrastructure spending against tax cuts and contractors against contraceptives, they say lawmakers should be fighting against the very idea of any economic stimulus at all. Call them the Do-Nothing Crowd.

“The economy was too big. It was all phantom wealth borrowed from abroad,” says Andrew Schiff, an investment consultant at Euro Pacific Capital and a card-carrying member of the stand-tall-against-the-stimulus lobby. “All this stimulus money is geared toward getting consumers spending and borrowing again. But spending and borrowing were the problem in the first place.”

Washington has a habit of passing legislation in a crisis and suffering from morning-after regrets — the Iraq war, the Patriot Act and last year’s original bank bailout plan come to mind. So we thought it would be wise to air the views of the naysayers toward Washington’s latest consensus approach.

More Evidence of Global Warming

Once again we see the devastating effects of GLOBAL WARMING which are clearly alive and well.

Winter-hardened Northeasterners were socked with the same subzero temperatures and biting winds that have turned the Northern Plains, Midwest and Great Lakes into a teeth-chattering misery for much of the week.

Maine residents braced Thursday for readings down to 40 below zero. And in the Midwest, Iowans were warned that temperatures could drop as far as 27 below zero, matching a Jan. 15 record set in 1972.

The deep freeze was part of a snow and arctic system that stretched from Montana to northern New England and dipped as far south as North Carolina.

Forecasters issued lake-effect snow warnings Thursday for Indiana, Michigan, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Wind chill warnings were posted for those states as well as Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Missouri, the Dakotas, Wisconsin and Minneapolis.

Twelve-month long drop in world temperatures wipes out a century of warming

Over the past year, anecdotal evidence for a cooling planet has exploded. China has its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad sees its first snow in all recorded history. North America has the most snowcover in 50 years, with places like Wisconsin the highest since record-keeping began. Record levels of Antarctic sea ice, record cold in Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Greece, South Africa, Greenland, Argentina, Chile -- the list goes on and on.

No more than anecdotal evidence, to be sure. But now, that evidence has been supplanted by hard scientific fact. All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA's GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously.

A compiled list of all the sources can be seen here. The total amount of cooling ranges from 0.65C up to 0.75C -- a value large enough to wipe out most of the warming recorded over the past 100 years. All in one year's time. For all four sources, it's the single fastest temperature change ever recorded, either up or down.

The first, on May 21, headed "Climate change threat to Alpine ski resorts" , reported that the entire Alpine "winter sports industry" could soon "grind to a halt for lack of snow". The second, on December 19, headed "The Alps have best snow conditions in a generation" , reported that this winter's Alpine snowfalls "look set to beat all records by New Year's Day".

Easily one of the most important stories of 2008 has been all the evidence suggesting that this may be looked back on as the year when there was a turning point in the great worldwide panic over man-made global warming. Just when politicians in Europe and America have been adopting the most costly and damaging measures politicians have ever proposed, to combat this supposed menace, the tide has turned in three significant respects.

First, all over the world, temperatures have been dropping in a way wholly unpredicted by all those computer models which have been used as the main drivers of the scare. Last winter, as temperatures plummeted, many parts of the world had snowfalls on a scale not seen for decades. This winter, with the whole of Canada and half the US under snow, looks likely to be even worse. After several years flatlining, global temperatures have dropped sharply enough to cancel out much of their net rise in the 20th century.

Ever shriller and more frantic has become the insistence of the warmists, cheered on by their army of media groupies such as the BBC, that the last 10 years have been the "hottest in history" and that the North Pole would soon be ice-free – as the poles remain defiantly icebound and those polar bears fail to drown. All those hysterical predictions that we are seeing more droughts and hurricanes than ever before have infuriatingly failed to materialise.

Even the more cautious scientific acolytes of the official orthodoxy now admit that, thanks to "natural factors" such as ocean currents, temperatures have failed to rise as predicted (although they plaintively assure us that this cooling effect is merely "masking the underlying warming trend", and that the temperature rise will resume worse than ever by the middle of the next decade).

15 Questions for 9/11 Truthers...

Let’s take your thesis (that 9/11 was an inside job perpetrated by the Bush administration, and covered up by a coalition of US government agencies, allied powers, big business and the media) as read. The following questions point to logical and factual gaps within that thesis. It is now up to you to answer these questions and explain why your theories are still valid. For your answers to be credible, they need to be detailed and based on verifiable evidence. No suppositions, no speculation, no unsupported assertions, just the facts. Stop “asking questions”, and provide answers. These fifteen initial questions will do for starters.

(1) On 9th September 2001 Ahmed Shah Massoud, the most effective military commander of the anti-Taliban coalition (the Northern Alliance, or NA) was killed by two Arab suicide bombers posing as journalists. The assassination of Massoud had taken months to plan, and the latter had received the bogus request for an ‘interview’ in May 2001 (See Steve Coll, Ghost Wars, pp.574-576; Jason Burke, Al Qaeda, p.197; Daniel Byman, Deadly Connections, p.210. Two days before 9/11, Al Qaeda killed the Taliban’s main enemy, who had also played a pivotal role in keeping the NA factions together, and who would have been the obvious figure to liase with if the Americans had decided to effect regime change in Afghanistan. If Al Qaeda were not responsible for 9/11, then why was Ahmed Shah Massoud’s assassination so well co-ordinated with the attacks on New York and Washington?

(2) Conversely, prior to 9/11, the US government had minimal contacts with Massoud and other Northern Alliance figures, much to the latter’s frustration (See Coll, passim). If 9/11 was a “false flag” operation intended to justify a pre-determined plan to invade Afghanistan, then why didn’t the CIA and other US government agencies do more to facilitate ties with the NA?

I have never believed that there is a secret United Nations plot to take over the US. I have never seen black helicopters hovering in the sky above Montana. But, for the first time in my life, I think the formation of some sort of world government is plausible.

A “world government” would involve much more than co-operation between nations. It would be an entity with state-like characteristics, backed by a body of laws. The European Union has already set up a continental government for 27 countries, which could be a model. The EU has a supreme court, a currency, thousands of pages of law, a large civil service and the ability to deploy military force.

So could the European model go global? There are three reasons for thinking that it might.

With Time magazine comparing Obama to Jesus, I guess we should be relieved that, this week, liberals are only comparing him to Abraham Lincoln.

The one thing every liberal on TV seems to know about Lincoln is that he put rivals in his cabinet, as subtly indicated in the title to historian and plagiarist Doris Kearns Goodwin's book: "Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln." Like Lincoln, Goodwin is always open to contributions from her rivals, although Lincoln was better at crediting their words.

And hasn't Obama talked to former rival Hillary about becoming his secretary of state? Hasn't he had a sit-down with Sen. John McCain? Did I imagine this, or is he even now brokering peace talks between Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck?

Ergo: Obama is a genius.

Emperor Obama's Clothes are Visible and Scary

Not surprisingly, many voters who cast their ballots for Barack Obama for president had no idea what he believed, what his voting record was or what his priorities would be as president. The YouTube videos showing voters’ ignorance during the just-completed election would be hilarious if they were not so sad. The “Emperor” leading the presidential polls had no clothes, but who would speak out? The nation’s opinion leaders threw up smoke screens that protected the public from the reality. The media certainly was not going to expose the nakedness of its crown prince. His opposition kept looking the other way. The cheering crowds clothed him to suit their individual preferences.

I watched the third and final debate in dismay. We tuned in to CNN because they carried an on-screen chart to display the reactions of 25-30 uncommitted voters set up backstage who had agreed to indicate their minute-by-minute reactions to the two candidates’ remarks by turning a dial to indicate their degree of positive or negative response to the comments of the presidential candidates. We discovered that the more emotional the comment, the higher positive response of the uncommitted voters. The more measured and reasonable the candidates’ statements, the more negative the voters’ responses. It was a riveting phenomenon that was scary in its implications — the public didn’t want to hear reasoned argument; they wanted platitudes that made them feel good.

During this election, Barack Obama said lots to make the public feel good. He made promises couched in vague language that could mean anything that the listener wanted them to mean. He used words like “change” and “hope;” he promised tax cuts to 95 percent of Americans — a promise that was ludicrous and impossible to fulfill, but people fell for it. He spoke one way in front of liberal audiences and another way in front of conservative ones. He learned the language of evangelicalism and he spoke it fluently when it served his purposes. People with diametrically opposite points of view came away from his rallies convinced that Obama agreed with their position on the issues.

Obama’s charisma and his rhetoric about “change” clearly mesmerized voters, as did the fact that he is a charming, articulate African-American family man whose election signals dramatic changes in the racial climate of a nation that is tired of racial tension and cultural division.

However, he gave plenty of evidence for his plans for his presidency. His voting record is as far left as is possible. He spelled out on his official website his plan of action in all its leftist glory. Those who cared to look could find all the relevant details. The problem is that most did not want to look; they didn’t want to have the “emperor” exposed. Now, though, we have to face reality — the emperor is fully clothed, in liberal garb from head to toe. So the nation has a president-elect who will drastically alter society, weaken family structure, and undermine religious freedom.

Wonderful History Lesson All Should Read!!!!

If you don't understand American history then you don't understand where we are today. You know America's been around a while, over two centuries. We Americans have done many things. We've had a lot of challenges. We've done some things right and some things wrong. And we learn from that. All human beings are supposed to learn from their experiences. And it's important to do it. So it's first and important to know the facts.

A lot of talk about this economy, the Great Depression and so forth. And history can help us. Now there's been this myth that goes on and on, it's taught in the public schools, even one of the dufus' in talk radio was talking about this once; about how the Great Depression came to be and the myth is, all these people buying on margin, buying stocks on margin, and there was a recession, and because they couldn't get their money out of the banks to pay their margin calls the stock market collapsed and everything went from there. THAT is what you're taught in schools. THAT IS A LIE BECAUSE IT'S ONLY A PIECE OF THE PUZZLE . You actually have to go before the stock market crash of 1929 to understand what happened because it didn't just crash because of a recession, stock markets don't just crash because of a recession. The Great Depression actually didn't START in 1929 with the stock market crash. The stock market crash was a symptom of terrible policies, government policies, federal government policies that extended and deepened what had been a relatively routine recession.

And the New Deal as Franklin Roosevelt called it actually was started under Herbert Hoover although he didn't call it the New Deal. THAT began before 1929 as well, and before FDR's election to the presidency. In 1928 the Federal Reserve board severely cut the money supply in the face in the teeth of a recession. The discount rate to banks, that is the cost TO banks to loan money and make it available to consumers in business, was increased 4 times from 3 ½% to 6% in an 18 month period! The money supply, that is the money spicket that the government turns on and off through the printing press, shrank 30% over the next 3 years. In other words the hands around the throat of the economy kept tightening and tightening and tightening as a result of government policy.

The Federal Reserve was monumentally incompetent. By slashing the money supply it caused the economy to contract. So while some investors saw what was going on with the money supply and got out of the stock market just before the crash of October 29, most did not. There was a massive dumping of stocks on what became known as Black Thursday. But that's not all…

In June of 1930 the Hoover administration urged Congress to pass the Smoot-Holly tariff. This came on top of a tariff that was passed in 1922, the Ford-Neimacumber tariff, which had already started destroying the nations agricultural economy. These acts slammed the door on the importation of foreign produce and goods, igniting an international trade war the world had never seen before.

The recession turned into a depression. And under Smoot-Holly tariffs actually INCREASED during the depression. Foreign governments blocked American exports which meant there was nowhere to sell American goods. In 1930 and 1931, Federal spending soared! With hundreds of millions of dollars in subsidies being paid to farming.

Congress passed another law called the reconstruction finance corporation, which distributed hundreds of millions of dollars, which today would be in the billions but, it was back then. So they distributed hundreds of millions of dollars to businesses. I'm not done.

In 1932 Hoover signed the Revenue Act. It was the largest TAX INCREASE IN PEACE-TIME HISTORY! DOUBLING income tax rates. The top bracket jumped even more, from 24% to 63%!!! Soak the rich! And so we have… So we have a mixed bag of monumentally bad decisions. With economy contracted the government grew, you have a relative handful of politicians and bureaucrats trying to figure out how to get out of it. What do they do? They cut off the country to International Trade. They massively raise taxes. They tighten the money supply. While at the same time they're subsidizing certain targeted businesses. And certain targeted parts of the economy. It doesn't work. Not only didn't it work, but it created the Great Depression.

Herbert Hoover, said to be a free-market Republican, he was never a free-market Republican. He oversaw the most massive intervention in the American economy of any president before Franklin Roosevelt. And when FDR first ran for President he was governor. And when he first ran for President he called for a 25% cut in taxes. A balanced budget. The end of government intervention in much of the marketplace. And an end to Hoover's farm subsidies. And then when he came to office, he took the Hoover plan and shot it with an overdose of steroids.

He (FDR) increased taxes even more. He massively increased subsidies to certain industries. The trade barriers were higher and wider than ever before. But FDR saw it as an opportunity to build a political force. So they passed union laws which increased wages and benefits for a very small percentage of workers because the unemployment rate at the height of the depression during FDR's administration was 23-24%. The recession became a depression. The recession lasted 3 times longer than any recession in American history. It became a depression and it lasted for 7 years. Nothing Hoover did, or FDR did, ended the depression.

Quite the contrary they made it severe. The misery was awful. People lost everything. The man who founded General Motors, while General Motors survived, he lost everything on the stock market. EVERYTHING! As did many others. One of the men who got out just in time was Joe Kennedy Sr, Ted Kennedy's father. Barnard Beruke was another. There were some who saw on the horizon the tightening of money in a recession, the tariffs going up and they said, No, I've got to get my money out of the stock market.

That's the history that most of you have not been taught. You're taught that it's a failure of the free market. Well you know the free market has ups and downs like everything else. Everybody can't be successful all the time. And that's how success develops. It's a dynamic system. The free market system. But when the government intervenes it becomes worse. And when those who intervene don't know what they're doing it becomes worse….

A negative term has been substituted for a positive, and this is of more than philological importance. The negative idea of Unselfishness carries with it the suggestion not primarily of securing good things for others, but of going without them ourselves, as if our abstinence and not their happieness was the important point. I do not think this is the Christian birtue of Love. The New Testament has lots to say about self-denial, but not about self-denial as an end in itself. We are told to deny ourselves and to take up our crosses in order that we may follow Christ; and nearly every description of
what we shall ultimately find if we do so contains an appeal to desire.

If there lurks in most modern minds the notion that to desire our own good and earnestly to hope for the enjoyment of it is a bad thing, I submit that this notion has crept in from Kant and the Stoics and is no part of the Christian faith. Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer
of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.

The correlation between these points, the tactics and positions of the Vlaams Belang, and the rationalizations of the “anti-Islamization” groups who are making alliances with them, is simply stunning.

* a sense of overwhelming crisis beyond the reach of any traditional solutions;

* the primacy of the group, toward which one has duties superior to every right, whether individual or universal, and the subordination of the individual to it;

* the belief that one’s group is a victim, a sentiment that justifies any action, without legal or moral limits, against its enemies, both internal and external;

Details on Hillary-Barack Meeting

ABC News' Martha Raddatz reports: President-elect Barack Obama met with Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., Thursday in Chicago to discuss the possibility of the senator becoming secretary of state.

A source with knowledge of the transition process describes the meeting as not a hard offer. Obama is more cautious than that.

WASHINGTON – A key House Democrat is writing legislation that would send $25 billion in emergency loans to the beleaguered auto industry in exchange for a government ownership stake in the Big Three car companies.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid are pressing for quick passage of an auto bailout during a postelection session of Congress that begins Tuesday.

The legislation being drafted by Democratic Rep. After all, it isn't as though we haven't been in messes before. Turn your internal clocks back 30 years to the late 1970s. See if you can call up a vivid picture of those times.

Jimmy Carter was in the White House.
The Democrats held 61 seats in the Senate.
They controlled 67 percent of the House.
Our economy was hobbled by 12 percent inflation and 9 percent unemployment.
The top marginal income tax rate was 70 percent.
We were under an Arab oil embargo that compelled us to buy gasoline on odd and even days — when gasoline was available, and it often wasn't.
Rather than encourage domestic oil production, our government was penalizing oil companies with windfall profits taxes.
We were ordered to turn our thermostats up in the summer and down in the winter and to wear sweaters.
We were at the height of the Cold War.
Iran had been holding 52 Americans hostage for more than a year, delighted to stick its thumb in America's eye.
Our President added scorn to ridicule by mounting a rescue mission that crashed and burned in the desert.

Liberal Censorship And the Fairness Doctrine

The most unnerving aspects about the Democrats' sweeping victory Nov. 4 are their intolerance for dissent and their willingness to censor and otherwise suppress their opponents.

Ohio state employee Vanessa Niekamp said she was ordered to run a child-support check on Joe the Plumber, the man who asked Barack Obama an innocuous question about redistributing taxpayer income. Niekamp doesn't remember ever having checked into anyone else without having a legitimate reason to do so, such as discovering that someone recently came into money.

Democratic prosecutors in St. Louis threatened criminal prosecution against candidate Obama's critics. In Pennsylvania, lawyers for Obama wrote intimidating letters to TV and radio stations that aired unflattering ads documenting Obama's anti-gun record. The Obama campaign complained to the Department of Justice about the American Issues Project's ad tying Obama to William Ayers. Obama supporters flooded Chicago radio station WGN with harassing calls during its interviews of conservative writers investigating Obama.

Democrats fully intend to reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine, a euphemistically named regulation aimed at shutting down conservative talk radio, which Sen. Chuck Schumer has compared to pornography. Remember that conservatives have never advocated government action to suppress or censor the liberal media monopoly, which has existed for decades and still dominates mainstream media today. Their answer was the alternative media.

But what is even more frightening than the sinister schemes of liberal politicians to silence and criminalize political opposition is the apparent eagerness of rank-and-file liberals to go along with them, as witnessed by the many examples I've cited and numerous gleeful e-mails I get taunting me about the imminent re-invocation of the Fairness Doctrine.

Plans are being made to promote a national holiday for Barack Obama, who will become the nation's 44th president when he takes the oath of office Jan. 20.

"Yes We Can" planning rallies will be at 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. every Tuesday at the downtown McDonald's restaurant, 1100 Kansas Ave., until Jan. 13. The goals are to secure a national holiday in Obama's honor, to organize celebrations around his inauguration and to celebrate the 200th birthday of President Abraham Lincoln, who was born on Feb. 12 1809.

President-elect Barack Obama’s newly appointed chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, served on the board of directors of the federal mortgage firm Freddie Mac at a time when scandal was brewing at the troubled agency and the board failed to spot “red flags,” according to government reports reviewed by ABCNews.com.

According to a complaint later filed by the Securities and Exchange Commission, Freddie Mac, known formally as the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, misreported profits by billions of dollars in order to deceive investors between the years 2000 and 2002.

Emanuel was not named in the SEC complaint but the entire board was later accused by the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO) of having “failed in its duty to follow up on matters brought to its attention.”

Why Bill Maher Made Me Laugh

Bill Maher is a very irritating fellow. Now surely he would say that he irritates people because he is so iconoclastic, shattering entrenched orthodoxies with his rapier wit, but the truth is that Maher is offensive because he has an offensive personality. He seems chronically unable to wipe the smug arrogant smile off his face, which is especially galling because this arrogance is entirely unsubstantiated by intellectual ability.

Even Maher’s humor seems, well, gratuitous and condescending. His is not the wry, gentle wit of Jay Leno or Jerry Seinfeld. Nor does he exhibit the outrageous, side-splitting humor of George Carlin or Richard Pryor. Rather, Maher employs his trademark sneer to poke snide, sarcastic fun at people, usually people who are markedly less sophisticated or culturally established or economically well off than he is.

“Religulous,” Maher’s documentary film attacking religion, is not exactly breaking attendance records nationwide. New as it is, it comes in close to last among the movies that are showing across the country. When I saw it recently, there were about a dozen people in a theater that seats several hundred. An occasional titter provided the only evidence that this was intended as a funny movie. Sure, the movie does provide some laughs, but as you will see, they are easy laughs that score no real points against Maher’s intended target.

The Party of Interests versus the Party of Values

Regardless of the final tallies in the Presidential election, the two major parties will retain their identities as distinctly different sorts of political coalitions: the Democrats as the party of interests and the Republicans as the party of values. Until the nation again faces an undeniable threat to its security and survival, this contrast gives a formidable, long-term advantage to the Democrats.

Consider last night’s Democratic victory parties in every corner of the Republic. Prominent among the most enthusiastic celebrants, it’s easy to spot the interest groups who provided the party with most of its energy, enthusiasm and money. Labor unions, trial lawyers, alternative energy entrepreneurs, gay activists, teachers, environmentalists, community organizers, university faculties, ethnic advocates, multiculturalists, feminist militants, welfare rights agitators and other liberal constituencies came together in enthusiastic support of the Obama-Biden ticket – and with the virtual certainty that they’d receive their payoffs from the new administration. Without exception, every important component of the Democratic coalition expects a direct reward from the government under President Obama. Union bosses will get an easier time organizing small business work forces due to the end of secret ballots;“civil rights” leaders will get new support for reparations, ethnic studies and affirmative action; teachers will get raises from federal tax dollars; homosexual organizers expect the transformation of marriage and protection as a persecuted minority; and feminists will run a massive new bureaucracy to administer “comparable worth” laws to set salary levels Because the Democrats promise a vast expansion of governmental spending and power they credibly can pledge benefits for all of the party’s most committed loyalists.
